Not noticed your driving licence has expired? This is a very easy mistake to make but it can unfortunately land you with a hefty £1,000 fine.
As a UK motorist, it’s your responsibility to ensure your licence is up to date. It’s valid for 10 years so if you’ve had yours for a while, it’s worth checking. The DVLA will send you a reminder letter before your licence expires so double check that you’ve informed them if you’ve moved address since you received your last licence.
It’s also very important to note that without a valid driver’s licence, your insurance will not cover you if you have an accident. Driving a vehicle without insurance is an offence in the UK and can land you in serious trouble.
There are a number of ways you can renew your licence both online and in person. Please head to the gov.uk website to find out more.
