Employers are entitled to use the Coronavirus Statutory Sick Pay Rebate Scheme to make a claim if any of their employees have been off work due to COVID-19.

Please be aware that there have been changes to the guidance regarding this scheme which includes information about employees who have transferred under the TUPE regulations.

As an employer, you can claim back up to two weeks of SSP if:

  • You’ve already paid your employee’s sick pay (use the SSP calculator to work out how much to pay).
  • You’re claiming for an employee who is eligible for sick pay due to Coronavirus.
  • You have a PAYE payroll scheme that was created and started on or before 28 February 2020.
  • You had fewer than 250 employees on 28 February 2020 across all your PAYE payroll schemes.

Please head to the gov.uk website for further advice or guidance. If you have any questions about SSP or any of the other government schemes available to businesses during Coronavirus, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with PKB.
